What you need to know
- 4K domes, turrets and PTZ mounted by licensed techs
- POS overlay: search by transaction, void or refund
- 30 to 90 day encrypted retention with cloud backup
- Mobile and desktop access with per-user permissions
- Cameras isolated on their own network segment
- Chargeback representment supported with clip export
Camera placement is a coverage problem, not a count problem
Twelve badly aimed cameras are worth less than five placed correctly. We walk the site and map the shots that matter: face capture at each entry, an overhead on every register with the drawer in frame, safe and office coverage, stockroom and back door, and wide exterior views of the lot and dumpster.
Lens choice follows the shot. Identification requires far more pixels per foot than general observation, so we specify resolution and focal length per position rather than buying a kit.
Transaction overlay turns video into loss prevention
Register events stream into the recorder alongside the video. Search "voids over $20 at register 2" and you get the clips, not a timestamp to hunt for. Sweethearting, drawer skimming and phantom refunds stop being suspicions and start being evidence.
The same capability pays for itself on chargebacks: when a cardholder claims they were never in the store, the clip attaches to the representment packet.
Storage, retention and remote access
Footage records to an on-premise NVR sized for your retention target, with encrypted offsite backup so a stolen recorder does not erase the evidence. Bandwidth is managed so uploads never compete with card authorization traffic.
Access is role-based across mobile and desktop, and every export is logged, which matters when footage is handed to law enforcement or an insurer.
Why cameras belong on the same contract as your POS
Cameras are network devices. Installed badly, they become the weakest link into your payment environment: default passwords, unpatched firmware, sitting on the same flat LAN as your registers. We put them on an isolated VLAN, patch firmware under the same managed IT program, and monitor them alongside everything else.
